Within three years of the opening of its doors, the Dartmouth College Club of New York has achieved the unique and enviable position of being able to retire its bonded indebtedness. Thirty thousand dollars was raised in 1926 to finance the alterations and furnishing of the club house at 24 East 38th Street. On September 1, 1929, the entire issue was paid off, and the Club le'ft with only current bills, which, incidentally, have always been discounted.
This unusual record for a club has been due to the active support of the members who, by their constant attendance, have demonstrated the value of a Dartmouth Club in New York. The use of the Club by non-resident members continues to show a steady increase, as more men become familiar with the advantage of having a base of operations in New York.
At the annual meeting of the Club in September, the following officers were elected for the coming year: D. Basil O'Connor 'l2, president; Randall G. Burns 'l2, vice-president; Nathan C. Lenfestey 'l3, treasurer; and Robert G. Clarke 'l5, secretary. The board of governors includes Judge W. N. Cohen '79, Edward K. Hall '92, Ernest H. Earley 'lB, Charles E. Griffith 'l5, James T. Heenehan 'l4, W. Lee White 'l2, Benjamin B. Greer 'Ol, Malcolm G. Rollins 'll, and H. Sheridan Baketel, Jr., '2O.
