PHILADELPHIA ASSOCIATION
NOVEMBER 1929 Herman Davidson

The first luncheon of the season was held on Friday, September 13, at the Hotel Pennsylvania, at which 41 were present including eight members of the freshman class and a goodly number of students and alumni. Ralph Britton, our genial president, outlined to those asse&ibled the Association's tentative plans for the Dartmouth-Navy football game. About 15 new men from Philadelphia and vicinity are entering Dartmouth this year. We regret very much that not all of these men could attend the luncheon, several having already hit the trail for Hanover before the notices reached them. Each year a greater number of men are being accepted from Philadelphia; which, of course, is very gratifying to the Philadelphia alumni.

Of course, the big event of the year, insofar as the Philadelphia Alumni Association is interested, is the Dartmouth-Navy football game to be played at Franklin Field on November 30.

The Association has selected the Pennsylvania Hotel, located at 39th and Chestnut Sts., as the headquarters for Dartmouth men and Dartmouth activities. This hotel was chosen because it is located in West Philadelphia within about 10 minutes' walk of the football field, as well as being in a district in which unlimited parking is permitted. The hotel is also located near the West Philadelphia station of the Pennsylvania R. R.

The entertainment committee has arranged for a luncheon at the hotel before the game, and for a tea dance directly after the game. There is a possibility that a dance will be held the evening of the game, but nothing definite along this line has been determined as yet.
