A small and very select crowd gathered at the Dartmouth Club in New York on December 11 for the class dinner—Christmas shopping seems to have prevented a larger gathering—Collin Wells, Yick Nutt, Les Ashton, and John Remsen. Les had returned from a duck shooting trip in the South, and had tales of many ducks. Some say he shot nothing but shells. Yick Nutt reported a most successful season of the Tysen Manor golf course.
Jack Alden and his family sailed the day of the dinner for a three months' trip in Europe. Nor Catterall reported that he was ready to give illustrated lectures on tours in Europe, while Ralph Samuel is planning a 1913 golf tournament in the spring. John Remsen is one of the committee to interview prospective freshmen, and he is ably assisted by Nutt and Catterall.
Here is news. Virginia Hayes came as a delayed Christmas present to Chris and Chum Hayes in New Haven, Conn. She arrived on December 28, and weighed 6 lbs.
Dean Thompson has left New York, and is now with the Calumet Baking Powder Company of Chicago. His business address is 4100 Fillmore St., Chicago, but he has sent no home address as yet.
Dave Morey has been named athletic coach at Bates College, Lewiston, Me. He will coach football, baseball, and hockey. For the past year Dave has been taking graduate studies at New York University while assisting Major Frank Cavanaugh at Fordham. Dave will have an assistant at Bates who will probably coach the freshman team.
Leeds Gulick's news letter Christmas card says that Edward Leeds 3d, who arrived on September 11 in Hanover, is doing well. He and his sister Madlin reached Phoenix, Arizona, with their mother in time to vote for Hoover. Much of the news has already appeared in the MAGAZINE, but he does say that for the sake of the children it has seemed best to them to give up the sanatorium work, and a Mrs. Hill has taken over the management. Leeds now has an office in the Arizona Fire Building at Phoenix.
