Capt. Gerard Swope of the track team worked out all Fall . . . with a dog . . . who is trained to set the right pace. Karl Michael won an intercollegiate diving championship two years ago . . . then left the team . . . for the glee club . . . and now he is beginning to reconsider. Jess Hawley was locked out on the observation platform of the Chicago Special ... for 20 miles in a snowstorm . . . Jackson Cannel was the jokester. Al Marsters wore a playing card in his jersey against Cornell ... it was signed by the late Houdini for good luck . . . Marsters forgot it before the Northwestern game. Shep Wolff threw a 70 yard forward pass . . . and it was completed . . . in a practice game. Gus Sonnenberg may come back to Dartmouth ... to wrestle . . . in an exhibition bout. Harry Hillman traded his old brown hat ... which he has worn for years ... to Jess Hawley . . . who gave him a French beret. They may have a relay race ... at the Harvard-DartmouthCornell track meet . . . and footballs will be used instead of batons. Fujiyama . the Dartmouth boxer ... is reported to be a Japanese prince. There are four milers on the track team ... all sophomores . . . who each do the distance under 4:32. Al Marsters used to play football . . . at Arlington High . . . and he was a center. Dick Black was one of the best hurdlers in the East . . . and he is still going out for track . . . as a hammer thrower. Robert E. Lee, Jr., . . . who plays football . . . and is a track star . . . is no relation to the Southern General. Tex Cole . . . the giant tackle . . . does not live in Texas. The whole hockey squad . . . with two exceptions . . . comes from Greater Boston . . . and the basketball squad . . . has no representatives there. When water polo was introduced to Dartmouth . . . the Yale team came to Hanover . . . and taught them the game . . . as they did football. Heinie Swarthout is a star in football . . . and basketball . . . and is also a well known dancer . . . with the musical clubs. Dartmouth's eleven may play Southern California ... in New York ... in 1930 ... if the Army and Navy renew relations.
