PHILADELPHIA ASSOCIATION
APRIL 1929 H. Davidson

The annual dinner and meeting of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Philadelphia was held at the Penn. A. C., Saturday evening, March 2. Although the attendance was not up to that of last year, it was far above the average for our annual dinners. The sixty-three who sat down for dinner all agreed that for pep and enthusiasm this year's dinner was up to the high standard set last year.

Dean Laycock and Al Priddy, member of the Alumni Council, were the speakers. This was Dea,n Laycock's first visit to Philadelphia in three or four years, so we were especially pleased to have him back with us again. Al Priddy came over from Boston, and gave a most interesting talk on matters pertaining to the selective process and Alumni Council. Al arrived early in the morning, and spent a good part of the day learning how bridge is played in Philadelphia. Odd as it may seem, the Philadelphia association cannot boast of having in its membership anyone who can play the piano, at least no one has yet come forward and volunteered his services along this line. We have tried for years to find someone to take over this part of the program at our annual dinners, but to no avail. For this year's dinner we decided to import someone from New York, and without much coaxing we were able to induce Arch Earle to forget about Ford Sedans, etc., long enough to play for us. There is none better at the piano than Arch, and it goes without saying that the music at his year's dinner far surpassed that of any other dinner of our association.
