The alumni of Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago have, during the past month, held their annual dinners. President Hopkins had planned to attend each of the dinners but was prevented at the last minute from leaving Hanover owing to a severe cold which confined him to bed. Robert C. Strong '24, his executive assistant, represented the President at the meetings and spoke concerning the development of the College in recent years. Prof. Charles L. Lingley and the Rev. R. W. Barstow 'l3, of Milwaukee, also addressed the Chicago alumni.
The Cleveland dinner was held February 11 at the Hotel Statler, the Detroit alumni met at the Detroit Athletic Club, February 12 and the annual dinner in Chicago was held at the Blackstone Hotel, February 14.
Professor Lingley addressed several Dartmouth Alumni associations in the Middle West at their annual banquets during the latter part of the month. He spoke to the alumni of Milwaukee and vicinity, February 24. The following evening he visited the Minneapolis association. February 27th he was the guest and principal speaker at a dinner of the Omaha alumni and he spoke to the Dartmouth men of Denver, March 1.
