CANOE CLUB

Plans for a new boathouse near the Ledyard Bridge and 100 yards north of the present one are now under way with active construction to take place this spring. The Canoe Club will conduct two Wells River trips, the annual Ledyard Cruise to the sea (250 miles) and a special trip to Lake Champlain and the Richelieu River. The Ledyard Cruise revives the ancient tradition of John Ledyard who, bored with college life, hacked a tree trunk into a crude canoe and started down the Connecticut on his famous wanderings.
