Two groups of athletes, who are usually unsung in comparison with their more publicized contemporaries at Dartmouth, share the month's spotlight for February. In first place is the Dartmouth Winter Sports team, in toto, and in second place we have the entire group comprising the freshman teams.
The Winter Sports team each year is composed of a crowd of hardy individuals who skate, ski and snowshoe because they love to, and each year members are drawn into this group who are specialists, and good ones in a particular line. This reason saw both the President Harding Trophy at Lake Placid and the Intercollegiate Winter Sports Union championships fall into Dartmouth's hands, the latter a noteworthy achievement because New Hampshire University had held the title for four consecutive years.
A palm is given to all of the freshman teams, for they have compiled the enviable record of not having suffered a single defeat since college opened last September. In making such a record, which is most unusual at face value, the freshman football, hockey, basketball and swimming teams have ploughed through difficult schedules undefeated, although the end is not yet in sight for the latter three.
