Hullah: Setting sights

After winning four Ivy League championships in the past five years, the Dartmouth women's basketball team is setting its sights even higher. First-year coach Jacqueline Hullah has been brought in with the intention of making the program bigger and better than ever. Athletic Director Ted Leland said he wants the program to become one of the best in the East.

"We want to raise our expectations outside of the Ivy League,' says Hullah, a former Northwestern assistant coach. "We want to change the perception nonIvy League schools have about our level of basketball."

The biggest change involves the quality of athlete the program is recruiting. Instead of recruiting against the other Ivies, Hullah has been pursuing the same players as scholarship schools such as Stanford, Northwestern, Virginia, and Duke. "The success the program has had in the past has allowed us to go out and recruit a higher level of athlete," Hullah says.

How successful Hullah has been in her first recruiting year won't be known until next spring.
