Secretary Merrill reports that in connection with his attendance at the recent secretaries' meeting he forgathered with Fred Claggett and Don Colby at the basebal game with Yale. Later he inspected Arthur Stone's second farm and his trout pond (of which Calvin Coolidge is a distinguished patron). He also discussed various phases of the financial depression with John "-Cassin and the present condition of the Hanover water supply with Ashley Hardy. Even now Ashley is mending his ways, and callers will do well to carry a flashlight until his new cement walk is completed.
Phil Marden's expected election to the board of trustees brings to an end his work for the Alumni Association and the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, and the Secretaries Association gave fitting expression to the feeling of everybody in the following resolution: "Resolved:
"That the Secretaries Association express its deep appreciation for the assured election of Philip S. Marden of the class of '94 as alumni trustee of the College.
"For twelve years he has been an associate editor of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. From his pen have come the keen and kindly editorials which have given to that department a charm and dignity second to none. He is our Phil, for he has expressed in words we cannot rival the spirit of our Association and has made clear and vivid the steps of progress made by the College. The interpreter of the new Dartmouth we would term him. We cannot replace him, but we can rejoice that the College has acquired a trustee who will but continue a truly magnificent service."
Galen Burch Fish, a non-graduate member of '94, was married to Mrs. Verda Mack Martin in Washington, D. C., February 28, at the National Memorial church (Universalist). Their home is at Gaysville, Vt.
