THE FOOTBALL team won the famous 10-6 Polo Grounds victory over Princeton before 20,000 spectators .... Dartmouth's left tackle, "Bolliver" Sherwin 'll, drop-kicked four points for only scoring in first half .... Princeton's Cunningham scored a touchdown early in second half .... Dartmouth clinched the game when diminutive "Spuddy" Pishon '10 almost knocked down by Princeton players coolly tossed a forward pass to "Dutch" Schildmiller '09 over near the sidelines who loped for a touchdown .... "Reggie" Bankart '09 kicked the goal .... before 36,000 enthusiasts Harvard won the last game of the season 6-0 .... in the last seventy seconds of play Harvard scored its touchdown .... Harvard's tower of strength Ham Fish (now Congressman) made the points possible by catching a forward pass while on his knees on the 8 yard line .... Dartmouth was without services of Jack Ingersoll 'O9, and Jess Hawley played less than 10 minutes .... Dartmouth players participating in these two games were le, Capt. Kennedy, Daley; It, Sherwin; lg, Tobin; c, Brusse; rg, R. Bankart, Pevear; rt, Rich; re, Schildmiller, L. Bankart; qb, Pishon; rhb, Ingersoll, Ryan, Steward; lhb, Hawley, Pollard; fb, Marks, Hoban .... among Dartmouth's adversaries were such names as Dillon, Bergin, Tibbott, McCrohan and Waller for Princeton; Fish, Kennard, VerWiebe, Corbett, Cutler, Withington and Brown for Harvard . . . . space does not permit a review of one of Dartmouth's best football seasons . . . . dynamic little "Spuddy" Pishon was generally credited by coaches and sports' writers as having been the spark that converted Dartmouth after its drowsy tie with Williams into one of the best teams in the East .... "Dutch" Schildmiller, Clarke Tobin and Jack Marks received many selections for All-American elevens .... the student body was stunned by Head Coach Dr. O'Connor's resignation.

The newly organized Richard HoveyQuartette was composed of H. S. Winship '10, H. S. Powers, R. B. Keeler and H. R. Walker, all of '11 . . . . the Deutscher Verein elected Pres., W. J. L. Dreyfus '09; Vice-Pres., W. H. Golde '10; Sec'y-Treas., H. M. Haserot .... down in Cambridge Harvard's famous Charles W. Eliot resigned as president .... the Dartmouth golf team comprised of Capt. Stucklen, Gorton, Lord, Root and Martin defeated Columbia, Pennsylvania, M.I.T., Lakewood Country Club and Brae Burn on an extended trip .... the band was attired in blue uniforms for first time .... special telegraph wire covering HarvardYale game ran direct to the gym .... admission 15 cents with proceeds for benefit of Miss Rodey whose courtesies and smiles are retained by many Dartmouth men .... Julius Arthur Brown's '02 engagement to Miss Helen Conner announced . . . . Miss Conner was daughter of Dr. Phineas S. Conner '59, former professor of surgery at the Medical School, and Julius Arthur's great grandfather was third president of Dartmouth .... it may interest some of you lads who used to have "Ass't Prof. Brown" to know that he is now spending his sabbatical year at Hanover .... his many years at Beirut, Syria, have not changed his outward appearance much . . . . heavier and older but that's about all .... we do not dare to print more for in a four-cornered visit to Hanover this fall Dave Storrs and the writer thought that he used to teach English; Julius Arthur himself confessed an interest in astronomy at that time while "Bush" Kingsford (Medical Director, completely bewhiskered thgn, partially now) claimed that none of us knew what the College used to teach in those days, anyway .... old-timers will recall that the Medical Director could speak in plain Americanese to students trying to get cuts excused .... but if you displayed enough starry-eyed innocence and got by the outer guard of alfalfa, one received most tender and considerate relief ....

Thayer footballers won the annual struggle from Tuck .... Paul Felt was referee; Reginal Bankart, umpire; Roland Childs, head linesman; P. Minot Chase, field judge; Geo. Schildmiller led the "hat" band .... the summary:

To meet the desires of the alumni for more frequent news of the College the old Dartmouth Bi-Monthly was changed to the present DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE for monthly publication .... Secretary of the College, E. M. Hopkins, became managing editor; Professors A. K. Hardy and Homer Eaton Keyes, associate editors; and John M. Comstock, alumni editor . . . . they laid the foundation well for what is now known as one of America's leading alumni publications .... hockey rink at the oval prepared for flooding .... Prof. "Harmony" Morse gave a demonstration of intensifying and reducing before the Camera Club ....

The writer of this column would welcome reminiscences that are printable; pre-modern photographs and snapshots .... in fact, anything of interest pertaining to the chop-stick period.
