News of one of the most active of alumni groups, the Dartmouth Outing Club of Boston, has been reaching Hanover throughout the winter season. Skiing trips and informal gatherings at the club Cabin have been held continuously since the third year of activities opened in October, and a club publication, The Trail, has been issued monthly by W. H. McCreery '29, vice-chairman of the organization.
The D.O.C. of Boston has entered teams in a number of New England ski meets, and in the Moosilauke Downhill Championships run by the Dartmouth Outing Club in March the Boston group took fifth place among thirteen club entrants. Marv Chandler, captain, John Feltner, Don Hight and Jack Titcomb represented the Club. The Boston team also competed in downhill races at Laconia and Hichgebirge.
Recent speakers at the Cabin gatherings have included Bob Monahan '29, a member of the Mt. Washington summit crew, Carl E. Shumway '13, F. Hamilton Hankins Jr. '28, Philip M. Morse '24, and Prof. Herbert F. West '22.
The membership of the club totals nearly 200, among which number President Hopkins holds No. 1 membership card. Officers are William B. Sleigh '25, chairman; W. Herbert McCreery '29, vicechairman and editor; Harold P. Trefethen '26, treasurer; Richard M. Nichols '26, secretary; Hans Paschen '2B, director of membership; Edwin H. Griffin '25, cabin director; and Charles N. Proctor '28, director of sports.
