Safety Drive Continued
June 1933

Palaeopitus continued its Dartmouth College Safety Drive with a recent announcement that all students owning motor vehicles in Hanover must display the official Safety Drive stickers on the windshields of their cars. A large decrease in the number of serious auto accidents has been effected since Palaeopitus began its drive. The printed pledge which every student driver must display reads: "I will drive to promote safety, and the welfare and good name of the College."

Palaeopitus has chosen to appeal to the undergraduate driver in this way rather than to outlaw the car completely or to limit its use to the junior and senior years. The privilege of having a car in Hanover is restricted to the members of the three upper classes who have obtained special permission from the Dean. Permission is not extended to freshmen, or to undergraduates who are on probation or who are receiving financial aid from the College.
