The Pennsylvania game two nights later was a sad contrast to the sparkling Princeton affair. The Green courtmen seemed weary, and only three points, by virtue of Stangle's floor goal and Kraszewski's foul shot, were scored during the first half. Pennsylvania, meanwhile, had tallied five goals and three fouls-for a 13-3 lead at half-time.
The unending roar of encouragement which the Dartmouth rooters produced throughout the rest period was something of a revelation, and it had a tonic effect on the Indians, who could not be stopped until they had forged ahead into a 14-13 lead. Syd Krivitsky, substituting for Edwards at forward, looped in three long baskets during the rally, and Uvo-pointers by Bonniwell and Goss helped to erase the deficit. Hashagen dropped in a foul to knot the score at 14-all, and from then on the game was a wide-open affair, with fisticuffs between Messrs. Kellett and Bonniwell providing an added bit of excitement. Pennsylvania took advantage of three free throws to gain the upper hand in the closing minutes of play, 19 to 17, and although the home rooters beseeched the Indian sharpshooters for a tying shot, a foul toss by Goss ended the scoring with Dartmouth still one point shy, 19 to 18. Hashagen of Penn, with three baskets and three foul shots, took scoring honors for the evening, while Krivitsky led the Green courtmen with 6 points.
