The Northwest Alumni Association of Dartmouth College held its annual dinner at Rochester, Minnesota, on April 28, with Dean Craven Laycock as guest of honor and principal speaker of the evening. Dr. Cowling, president of Carleton College, also spoke, and Dr. Waltman Walters '17 presided. About 80 persons, including several doctors from the Mayo Clinic, were present.

As a token of its esteem, the Association presented Dean Laycock with a silver plate engraved with the following inscription:

"Presented to Craven Laycock, Dean ofDartmouth College, in recognition of hissplendid leadership and inspiration toDartmouth and Dartmouth men, by theNorthwest Alumni Association of Dartmouth College, April 28, 1934."

New officers elected at the meeting were Dewey Gruenhagen 'si, St. Paul, president; Chauncey Colton '03, Duluth, vice-president; Carl Elmquist '35, St. Paul, treasurer; and Stuart Seidl '30, Minneapolis,, secretary. The executive committee for the coming year will be composed of Dr. Waltman Walters '17, Rochester, Chairman; William A. Martin '07, Minneapolis; and Stephen A. Osborn '37, St. Paul.

Among those present were Clarence B. Little '81, Bismarck, North Dakota; Walter W. Smith '93, Rochester, Minnesota; and Dr. Charles Sheard, A.M. '07, of the Mayo Clinic. A highlight of the meeting was a remarkably witty speech by "Duke" Dunning '11, St. Paul, placing Chauncey Colton's name in nomination.

The Association has recently presented to Blake School of Minneapolis a Dartmouth hockey trophy, on which will be inscribed each year the name of the hockey player voted by his teammates as the most valuable man. Similar trophies will be given to Shattuck School and St. Paul Academy.
