Dr. "Rame" Pond, the great pole vaulter half a century ago, and now a successful physician and noted golfer of Brooklyn, N. Y., was the surprise of our reunion. He hadn't been back since his college days and didn't recall one or two of the class, although he remembered most of us. He seemed to enjoy his stay, and we'll have him back again in '40, I think.
Twenty men out of forty were back, and thirty-six were there, counting the ladies. No children in our class! They are all grown up.
Beacham drove over from Albany for a day, and Dr. Perry Boynton and his wife were there the whole time to liven things up. Bugbee and his wife, together with Prof. Gerould and Mrs. Gerould, entertained us nicely Saturday afternoon at the Bugbees' attractive home. Canty brought his two daughters, but couldn't stay for the Sunday evening dinner.
Dr. Caswell came in from Portland for the alumni dinner Saturday noon. Hilton was there Saturday and Sunday, but we missed his wife this year, owing to the wedding of their youngest son, Edward, which took place in Chicago very soon after the reunion. Dr. Vic Safford and wife were on hand.
Mann and wife drove up with the Secretary and Mr. and Mrs. Mills, and the Morrisons were back as usual. John F. McDonald took his daughter up, and his reminiscences at our class dinner were very entertaining. Hilton also gave a particularly interesting talk. Mr. and Mrs. Mathewson and son were present.
Moses and Reynolds of course were on hand with their wit and humor, and Rowe, Ruggles, and Young and Mrs. Young were there as usual. The Sunday afternoon drive over the new road and Quechee bridge was very interesting. Our class dinner in Stell Hall was a big contrast to our college day "club" meals, and all in all it was about as enjoyable a reunion as we have ever had.
