Dr. Mathewson has tendered his resignation as Principal of Lyndon Institute, to take effect at the end of the present school year. Mathewson was elected our permanent class president during our senior year. After graduation he was elected Principal of the Spaulding High School at Barre, Vermont, and was appointed Superintendent of Schools there in 1895. He was elected a Trustee of Lyndon Institute in 1893 and became President of the Vermont Teachers' Association. After twenty-two years of successful service in Barre he was elected Principal of Lyndon Institute, a position he has filled with dignity and honor for thirty-one years. Recognized as one of the State's leading educators, he has served the State on various education boards, and has been in the State Senate. He will retire to private life, though active in all the community interests. For some years he has been President of the Lyndonville Savings Bank and Trust Cos.
