HERE & THERE: On the chance that the Wah-Hoo-Wah section of this magazine might overlook our Bill Green, let's give a '39 warhoop of our own. Bill has recently been appointed the Assistant Attorney General for the State of New Hampshire, which appears to us to be an accomplishment of some proportions Just about a week or so ago, we received a letter from Jack Atwood who sent on the glad tidings that he and his spouse are definitely lined up to hit the Big Tenth Reunion this June. That's the kind of word we like to hear, especially from a guy who is making the trip from way out Wayzata, Minn, way John(Sully) Sullivan reports that he is traveling up to Sanford, Me., to pursue a bit of business for his employers, the Goodall Cos., of Cincinnati, Ohio, makers of fine Palm Beach suits. This trip is scheduled to be of some two month's duration, after which we presume Sully will head back for home in Cincinnati. ....We have in our possession, a weekly schedule outlining the activities of The First Church of Middletown, N. Y. The Reverend at this church is, of course, Steve (Fran)Bachelder, whom we hope to see once again at reunion time in Hanover For any of you lads who don't manage to see a newspaper on a daily basis, it is our pleasure to report that Bill Remington had his name cleared of disloyalty charges and the suspension removed in connection with his work at the Commerce Department. Bill has been back at the job in Washington since the middle of February. Horace Mecklem is still busy logging, out in Manzanita, Ore., and apparently can be reached at home in Nehalem, Ore.

FOLLOWING THE STORK: Johnny Mecklin became the father of John Davis Mecklin on January 26, up in Ottawa, Can. Johnny is of course still grinding away profitably in the news field. His address is 265 Daly Avenue. Steve and Anne Bradley added a young Miss, name of Kathy, to the family Dec. 13. Steve worked up an interesting hand-drawn card to announce the event which depicts the proud parents, daughter Lynn, son Rickie and the family hound, Bozo. The whole gang are standing on their skiis watching the new arrival schuss under the finish banner with a big number three on her back Jim (Rampo)Sampson passes on the info that he has three little rampos, two gals, and the last arrival, a son, born in December. The Sampson's are living in Millersville, Pa.
WRITER OF THE MONTH: Whit Cushing takes the honors for this month with his newsy and interesting letter from Sarasota, Fla., the home of the Circus, and the N. Y. Yankees among others. We quote excerpts:
I'm down here at the Ringling Art School in Sarasota, and still learning to be an artist. Am working toward gallery exhibiting, magazine illustrating, and portraits. We have a good school here right in the lap of the Ringling Circus winter quarters (the school was founded by the late John Ringling) and one of the finest snow sanded beaches in Florida in Lido Beach. Consequently, the extracurricular isn't hard to take, even tho' the GI Bill doesn't take care of the tobacco and movie money. We have a great bunch, mostly veterans, and several college men, but I'm the only Wah Hoo Wah
"I suppose many '39ers got as big a kick as I did out of seeing Dave Schilling in the 'March of Time'. Looked just the same as he did while doing his four years in Hanover.
"Hal MacGilpin is one of Worcester's brightest young doctors and he and his pretty wife Jeanne now have two little tenpins who looked mighty cute on their Christmas card.
"By the way, every Dartmouth man who knew Sandy Sloane (who was shot down over Germany in the last war) should make it a point to visit his shrine near Rindge, N. H. It's a beautiful spot and a most impressive dedication to all men like Sandy who gave up everything in this life during the war."
(Editor's Note: An article in Best Years magazine, January, 1949 Issue, entitled "The Miracle of Halo Hill" by Arch Whitehouse, tells the story of Sandy's 'Cathedral' in Rindge, N. H. This article appears to be a bit more complete than an article in Reader's Digest, April, 1947, by the same author and entitled, "The Cathedral in the Pines.")
THE CLEARING HOUSE: "TEN YEARS—TEN DOLLARS," that's the slogan for our tenth Alumni Fund Drive this year. Not too high when you figure it amounts to one buck for every year out! Obviously, our attempt this year ought to be a big one. Let's see if we can climb into the number One spot in the Green Derby and make it a memorable year all around.
And don't lose sight of the big reunion coming up this June, gang! Clem Burnap is working up a big party, so don't miss it. If there are any strays who haven't mailed that card into Clem, please do so NOW! If there are any movie photographers who want to get into the act of covering the party from the first drink to the last, contact our "Pro," Rod Albright, MPO Productions, 342 Madison Ave., New York 17, N. Y.
And that just about squeezes us dry of any '39 news, so until next month, when we'll be up to our hunkers in the Alumni Fund and elaborate plans for our June gathering, swing along easily!
