Chick Evans' freshman basketball club has got off to a fine start with a pair of victories over Montpelier Seminary, 45-14, and Clark School, 59-11. Three pretty good teams seem to be available, with Rockwell, Mallory, Berkeley, Thomas and Seidenstuecker forming the first club. The leading reserves include McFarland, Walkley, Leverer, Davis and Moses.

The yearling hockey team opened its season on December 18 by downing New Hampton, 3-1. A 5-5 tie with Hill House High School of New Haven followed, and on January 18 the first-year puckmen resumed their winning ways by turning back Nichols Junior College, 2-1. Coach Gill's first team is made up of Captain Bob Faegre, goalie; Forrest Mather and Bob Egelhoff, wings; Dick Lewis, center; and Tom Chapman and Maurice Hallett, defense men. Faegre is the brother of John Faegre '33. Other squad members whose names have been connected with Dart mouth athletics in the past include Bob Bott, brother of Molly Bott '29, Dartmouth's great goalie; Dick Heneage, son of Harry R. Heneage '07; Frank Cannell, nephew of Jack Cannell '19; and Charlie Tesreau, son of Jeff Tesreau, varsity baseball coach.

The freshman swimming team, under Sid Hazelton, has defeated Glens Falls High School, 45-26, and Andover Academy, 37-28. In the latter meet, Francis Mills set a new freshman and Andover pool record by winning the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.8, while the medley relay team broke the Andover pool record with a time of 1:30.4.
