Shorty Edwards, whose death at Longmeadow, Mass., on March 14, 1934, was reported in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE of May, 1934, was closely identified with the North Congregational church of Longmeadow. During a recent joint meeting of the parish and the society, the following memorial was presented and acted upon:
"In grateful memory of Frederic Edwards, this brief tribute is prepared forthe annual meeting of North Congregational church, which has so many reasonsto be grateful for this rich and preciousmemory; grateful for his sterling character, for his stanch and cheery personality,for his genial optimistic spirit; gratefulfor the wide range of his public service inthe community, for his abiding love forhis fellowmen, for his rare ability and efficiency in his special field of work inwhich he exemplified this love; gratefulfor the beauty of his home life and theloyal friendliness of his nature continuallymanifesting itself to the wide circle of hisacquaintances; grateful for his stedfast devotion to this church, for his wise andskilful direction of its music and his keenand helpful interest in the managementof its affairs; grateful for the example setfor all of us by his sincere, unassumingChristian life from day to day.

The high soul climbs the high -way, andthe low soul gropes the low.
And in between, on the misty flats, therest drift to and fro.'
Unswervingly and without ostentation,the high soul of Frederic Edwards climbsthe high way. For the memory of thatjourney and of him who so stedfastly trodit, our hearts again are filled with deepestgratitude"
