December 1943 HENRY R. LANE, WILLARD H. CUMMINGS

This month we introduce more '07 sons, two owing allegiance to the Navy and the third to the Army Air Corps.

Robert Pelren, Harry's son, graduated from Dartmouth in December, 1942, and entered the Midshipman's School at Notre Dame in February, 1943. Upon his graduation from the school in May he became an ensign. Mrs. Pelren and Harry attended the graduation exercises and report it as most impressive Robert returned East with his parents and was married at Waban, Mass., on May 29 to Miss Anne Harvey Woods. Immediately after the wedding the young couple left for San Francisco and very shortly thereafter Robert joined his ship somewhere in the South Pacific.

Thacher Worthen's boy Fred is an Air Cadet taking special training in photography at Yale. He completes his special course in December and will presumably be commissioned at that time..... Tute also has two sons-in-law in service, one a captain in the Engineering Corps of the Coast Guard, and the other a lieutenant in the Medical Corps of the Army Air Service.

George Pierce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cully Pierce, enlisted in the Navy in October, 1945, and is at Hanover with the Navy Unit (or was on Oct. 5). George is 20 years old, is 6' 5" tall, and 5" longer than his bunk.

Joe McCann, whose death on October 28 is reported in another column of this MAGAZINE, will be remembered by many of his classmates as a slender, speedy back on 'o7's freshman football team. .... Joe left College after two years, married early, and made his home in or near Boston continuously. In nearly forty years he had but one employer, the Boston Elevated Railway. .... A classmate who knew Joe best thinks of him as one of our most successful members, .... successful in the fullness of his family and community life rather than his accumulation of this world's goods.

Joe's family has always been his first interest, and next to them the boys of his community. It is certain that his family and his friends have suffered a heavy loss, and to them 'O7 extends sincere sympathy.
