Presenting Commander Charles A. McKendree MC USNR, until recently, stationed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and now on duty at the Navy Yard, New York City, as Medical Officer of the Labor Board. Charlie is deeply interested in his Navy work and expects to serve until the end of the war. Charlie's son, Charles, was graduated in medicine last month from the University of Virginia and is now an interne at St. Luke's Hospital, New York City.
On April 22 the United Corporation announced the resignation of George H. Howard as president and director of that company. The report stated that Mr. Howard had intended to resign for some time to devote more time to his personal alfairs, but had deferred resignation at the request of the board. George had been president of United Corporation almost from the start of its organization in 1929. Previo usly he was a partner in the law firm of Simpson, Thatcher & Bartlett in New York.
Commissioner William J. Minsch, Director of Revenue and Finance of Montclair, N. J., addressed the Lions Club on April 21 on the subject, "First Impressions of a New Officeholder." Bill Minsch has been a resident of Montclair since 1921 and his fellow-townsmen have recognized his abilities on more than one occasion.
