The Chicago Association held a "Spring Carnival" at the Drake Hotel on Saturday evening, May 25th, the first big Dartmouth party in Chicago since the Dartmouth-Chicago game in 1933.
Arrangements were in the hands of a committee consisting of William F. Juergens '23, Chairman; Charles B. Obermeyer Jr. '23, and Richard G. Gunthorp '26. The orchestra of Waddy Wadsworth furnished the music.
A women's committee was also formed to aid in the promotion of the Spring Carnival, and held its first meeting at a luncheon at the Key Club on April 20. Mrs. W. R. Abbott Jr. and Mrs. Kenneth H. Thomas are co-chairmen of the women's committee. Other members are: Mrs. Robert C. Borwell, Mrs. Frank S. Coffin, Mrs. Horton Conrad, Mrs. J. William Embree, Mrs. R. L. Flannery, Mrs. Richard G. Gunthorp, Mrs. Edward F. Hamm Jr., Mrs. George T. Leach, Mrs. Louis E. Leverone, Mrs. Nathaniel Leverone, Mrs. George R. Lyon, Mrs. Lawrence D. Milligan, Mrs. Charles B. Obermeyer, Mrs. William A, Ryan, Mrs. William P. Smyth, Mrs. W. R. Tobey, and Mrs. E. Worthington Walters.
At the association luncheon on April 3, Warren Piper, Cornell man and Chicago jeweler, spoke. Mr. Piper is the father of a movement for taxpayers to come out in the open and stand together by wearing buttons bearing the legend: "Just a taxpayer—neither on dole nor public payroll."
Congratulations have been showered upon Ted Lamb '24 for his recent cap- Cure of first prize in a nation-wide architectural contest sponsored by General Electric. Ted's subject—a home. The awardto Ted and his partner in the contests$2500.
Harold Andres '31, formerly of Newton, Mass., has recently taken up residence in Chicago at 6019 North Winthrop Ave., and put in his appearance at the association luncheons.
