THE CHICAGO Association held its most successful picnic of recent years on August 28th, the night before the All-Star-Chicago Bears football game. About 125 members and guests played baseball, consumed steaks, and gathered about the bonfire on the estate of Louis Leverone.
The date was fixed to accommodate numerous out-of-town Dartmouth men and guests who were in Chicago for the big game. Boston's Bill Cunningham '19 acted as master of ceremonies.
Among those present were Fat Spears 16, Wisconsin coach, Slip Madigan, St. Mary's coach, Bill Bingham, Harvard Athletic Director, Eddie Casey, former Harvard coach, Jess Hawley '09, former Dartmouth coach, George Marshall, owner of the Boston Red Skins, Judge Duke Dunne, former Michigan star and now line coach at Chicago, Bill Knight 'OB of Rockford and Cap Hedges 'to of Cedar Rapids, lowa, officials of Big Ten games, and Red Loudon '14 and Eddie Lynch '23, former Dartmouth football stars, both of whom journeyed down from Minneapolis.
Most if not all of these were called upon by Bill Cunningham for speeches, which were made only after appropriate introduction by the master of ceremonies. Banter mixed with compliment and compliment with banter, to the delight of the multitude.
