In the ALUMNI MAGAZINE for March, brief mention was made of the death of Mrs. Seth N. Gage, February 12, at Ascutney, Vt., just one month after she and her husband had celebrated their golden wedding. The following is part of one of several tributes to her memory that appeared in local papers:
"For over twenty years she had createdby her rare personality, kindness, and socialcharm an atmosphere peculiarly her own.Any one who was privileged to enter herpresence never forgot the experience, and,if possible, came again None of uswill ever forget Mrs. Gage; for this sovibrant friend who kept abreast of everytopic, and lent the latest play on the stagein London, or shared some landscape orstill-life an artist friend had brought in forher to see, was unable to walk, patientlyhiding under her magnetic welcoming smilea chronic invalidism. Her couch was trulyher throne, and queenly she was in her perfect adaptation of her condition to herideal."
Russell A. Wentworth of Batavia, N. Y., who took his first two years in the C. S. D. with the class of '77, and then after two years spent in earning money to complete the course, joined '79, is one of our older members, but not by any means the least active. In February a lawyer wrote a letter to Wentworth's son, in which he said:
"We have just finished a term of courthere, and you will be interested in knowingthat your father has been out making mapsand surveys for me in five cases, and he isin perfect health and a remarkable man.He was out one cold day recently, and hestood it better than any of the rest of us.And his mind is.as clear as crystal and hemakes an excellent witness in court."
It may be added that the General Catalogue states that "Tansy" was born January 5,1853.
