Our mini-reunion during Homecoming Weekend was a real success from an attendance perspective, and great fun was had by all. The triumph over Harvard was the icing on the cake. Here's an update on some of our attendees.
Doug Wise and his wife, Joanne, are moving to New Hampshire. They are presently living in Barry Smith's summer house on Lake Mascoma, expecting renovation of their new home will be completed by June '94. They will be living four miles out of Lyme, where Joanne will continue her international art business.
Congratulations to Charlie Pinkerton and his wife, Elizabeth, who have just become grandparents for the first time. Charlie attended the reunion; however, we missed Elizabeth, who stayed with the new baby.
Dr. Stu Mackler recently moved to the Chesapeake Bay area. Stu is an avid sailor, and in his spare time he is exploring the coast area in his '52 Erwin sounds like he is having a ball!
Lee Wilson and Judy attended the reunion, and Lee had plenty of questions for the class meeting.
Both the Bill Longs were there and Bill G. will be expanding on this report with a lengthy newsletter. I had a long conversation with Sam Adams, and he is really enjoying being back in the north country.
Boston was well represented. Mike Nolen and Debbie are living in Back Bay with their five-year-old son. Moose Morton and Margaret were in Hanover, spotted with DaveGavitt during the game. Scottie Palmer is now head of the Department of Central and Latin Affairs at Boston University, and we are certain his courses are as scintillating as his dinner conversation. The Woosters's beautiful new home was well under construction, and they were hoping to finish it by Christmas. It sits on an elegant hillside outside the town of Norwich and has a clear view of Baker Tower. Jim is commuting to White Plains, while Betsey continues as construction boss. They are contemplating retirement in the not-too-distant future.
Tom Margetts is now living his life in two cities. Part in Richmond, Ind., and the other in Morristown, N.J., where he and Donna have their main home. Tom is flying back and forth to Richmond, where he holds forth as VP of law and human resources for a company that has been LBO'd out of Purolator, now called the Seine Company. They have just taken it public. Smart!
President John Ferries has put together, with Michael Stern and others, an exciting student-mentor program that acts as a dramatic step in furthering the relationship between our class and the active students at Dartmouth. John did a great job in his presentation, and those present spent several hours discussing it. We had an excellent class meeting.
We are in Useppa Island, Fla., until next Spring, so if you happen to be in our area give us a call.
Keep those cards and letters rolling in.
