Hon. William N. Cohen, LL. D., known to his friends as Judge Cohen and to his classmates as "Schlei," was the guest of honor, Friday, May 7, at the home of his nephew, Arthur J. Cohen '03, 885 Park Ave., New York, on the occasion of his eightieth birthday. About 125 guests were present at the reception from 3.30 to 6.30, P.M. and there was a family dinner in the evening. Henry B. Closson, Esq., was the only member of '79 able to be present, but letters of congratulation were received from nearly all the living members of the class, also from President Hopkins, several members of the faculty and several undergraduates. Arthur J. Cohen Jr., who is a member of the present senior class at Dartmouth, was also present. The birthday cake was iced with a picture of Dartmouth Hall.
Judge Cohen, who has had a distin- guished career in New York, is a most loyal and devoted son of the "Old College on the Hill." He had a place of leadership in the construction of the Memorial Field concrete grand-stand, and has been a very liberal contributor to the Alumni Fund as well as to other Dartmouth projects. For several years he has been president of the class of '79, succeeding the late Hon. T. W. Proctor, LL.D.
