THE FALL SEASON is fully under way with the regular Saturday afternoon football broadcasts of the team's principal games—those with Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Cornell. The meetings this year are being held at the Hotel La Salle which has better facilities than we have enjoyed before. These Saturday afternoons have always been the most popular get-togethers of the entire year.
October 15, at a regular monthly luncheon, we had the pleasure of hearing John Schommer who is eagerly sought as an official for Big Ten football games. Unfortunately this MAGAZINE went to press before your correspondent could report on the meeting so those who weren't there will have to find out from those who attended what an interesting luncheon it was.
Earlier in the fall, before the undergraduates and the entering freshmen went to Hanover, the association held a luncheon especially for them. The guests of honor (and their fathers) were there en masse and there was very little room left for the alumni. It is noteworthy that the members of the class of '4O, who are the most recent additions to our group, have taken a keen interest in Chicago alumni affairs and a number of them attended this meeting and have been going regularly to the daily luncheon table at Mandel Brothers Men's Grill.
As for coming events, the football returns are paramount, but there will also be another monthly luncheon on November 13 at which the guest of honor will be Col. Donald Armstrong of the U. S. Ordnance Department. His subject is certainly going to be interesting and timely so those who want preferred places should make it a point to be at Mandel's early.
Amazingly enough, the winter program has already been planned and announced. But more of this next month, in our next issue.
