Before a colorful Fall Houseparty throng, the 1938 class team, under the leadership of Captain "Mouse" Hallett, trounced the fraternity championship team, Zeta Psi, in the final game of the College Championship playoffs, 24 to 12. The Zetes had earned the right to the finals by defeating the first-year Tuckmen. The '38 team had previously overwhelmed the dormitory leader, Woodward Hall, to form the team in the other bracket. Features of the game were the bullet passes of Hallett and the spectacular shoe-string catches of Bobby Reeve and Wright Mallory. The Zetes' pass defense was weak, and in spite of the efforts of Irv Stronach '38, who, by the way, gave an excellent exhibition of running and passing for the losers, the '3Bs proved too good on the receiving end. The Zetes were held scoreless during the first three periods. They started a late rally in the fourth period, but it was too late to overcome the lead of the '3Bs. Bill Thomas of the Zetes turned a good after noon's performance.
The volley ball tournament will get under way shortly. This year a new system in the form of revised fraternity leagues is being instituted. It is hoped by this revision to equalize the teams.
