The spring season in intramurals is in full sway, and baseball holds the immediate spotlight. The teams have not yet entered the playoffs, but the preliminary games are nearing completion. In the South Webster league, Beta Theta Pi and Zeta Psi have yet to meet to prove the winner. Both have strong clubs, but the presence with the former of Ken Weidaw, an outstanding performer on last year's freshman pitching staff, gives the Betas the advantage. Sigma Chi has already won first place in the North Webster League, while Chi Phi in the East Wheelock Street league is a sure winner.

The annual interfraternity track meet was won by the Phi Sigs who, with a total of 21.5 points, finished 9.5 points ahead of their nearest rival, Psi U. Rog Buffington '38 of Phi Sig was the big gun in the field when he lowered the 220-yard dash record of 23.8 seconds set by Mc Mullen of Sigma Nu in 1934 to 23.3 seconds. Jack Sullivan '39 of Delta Tau Delta took the 60-yard dash, and later while running anchor on their relay team, pulled away to a beautiful lead which he maintained to the tape. The winners' time of 1:36.6 established another new record. The Delts, S. A. E. and Zeta Psi tied for third place with six points apiece. In the field events, Moose Taylor '39 of Psi U put the shot 48 feet to ring up a new record. In the high jump, Bill Olmstead '38 cleared 5' 7" to take first place for Zeta Psi in that event, while Phil Sutherland '37, Tri-Kap, placed first in the broad jump with a leap of 20' 6".

The squash and handball tournaments have been completed, with Phi Gamma Delta winning the latter, Delta Kappa Epsilon taking the former, and Phi Sig the runner-up in both cases. The final winners of the consolation tournaments in these sports have not been determined as yet, and the college finals will then be played.

The usual spring golf tournament is under way, but it is yet too early to make predictions as to the outcome. The first round has not been completed, but Phi Psi, Psi U., Zeta Psi, K. K. K., D. T. D., and Chi Phi have all won their initial matches. Another new addition is seen in a tournament in horseshoes. The matches are run informally and have been received enthusiastically by the fraternities.
