THE DREAMS OF Prof. Tobin about younger men in politics and public service come true in the Plainfields. He would love to see his brain child in flesh and blood here on New Years Day. The father of John Milne '37 was inducted in as Mayor of North Plainfield with only the fanfare of signed contracts for a new borough hall to add promise to this latest of his administrations.
Over in Plainfield City Hall we celebrated the elevation of George F. Hetfield '31 as president of the Common Council. He received flowers and the Mayor's Committee, under Pres. Walter L. Hetfield '29 of the Republican City Committee, welcomed us with cigars, fruit punch, bonbons and fancy biscuits, served by pretty girls. Later many of the men adjourned to the Y. M. C. A. reception across the street, and enjoyed the East's victory over the West by radio, with an ear out for the playing of Handrahan and Ray of our own; and Kelley, Kurlish and Sanbach by adoption. Pierce of Fordham was also a favorite.
Our next meeting will be Dartmouth Night when an election of officers will take place.
