Two DARTMOUTH BOYS helped the East win from the West in the annual New Year's day football game in San Francisco. The affair this year produced a net of $30,000 for the Shriners' Hospital.

The Eastern squad arrived December 21 and at noon were received by the Big Ten Club at a luncheon to which were invited all Eastern and Midwest Alumni. Dartmouth turned out as usual—two tables of ten each right down front—more than any one other eastern college representation. We are confident that Dartmouth's Carl Ray and John Handrahan appreciated it too.

Despite the close supervision given the squad by Andy Kerr and Dick Hanley, we showed just cause for a loan of Carl and John for our following Monday luncheon. Did they come? Yes and they brought along Fred Ritter and Ken Sandbach (Princeton) and Larry Kelley (Yale), as their guests just to show them how an alumni organization works. No gamble on their parts at all—the table was enlarged and enlarged in our regular luncheon room at the Olympic Club until the worn-out waiters chalked up 35. One of the best luncheons we have had! The boys enjoyed informally discussing the football situation so much that they overstayed their leave a little.
