We trust that the hard work of Jim Wilbee's ('42) Directory Committee will be rewarded with the completion of the 1952 Directory at the same time that this article appears in the April issue. The total number of alumni here in Northern California and Nevada should top 400 this year. Jim, his most cooperative wife, and a committee of six worked on the Directory for several months. The six committeemen were: AbeWinslow '20, Larry Eager '23, Dave Bender '31, Jim Adams '43, Bruce Leeger '46, and Bob Bowler '51.
One of our weekly luncheons in February was highlighted by Line Wilson's ('13) report of his participation in the Alumni Council program in Cleveland. Line met with the Alumni Fund Committee January 31 and then attended the annual Cleveland Alumni Club banquet the following day. Speaking of our weekly luncheons, we would like to urge any vacationers or traveling businessmen to attend any Wednesday noon that they are in San Francisco and can make it to St. Julien's at 241 Battery St. More and more newcomers are showing up every week as we always have an enjoyable time settling all of the major would issues.
At this time we are all looking forward to the annual meeting and dinner of the Northern California Alumni Chapter. Ed Chamberlain '36 will make the pilgrimage West and be the guest speaker on April 21. President Dave Smith '35 has made elaborate preparations at the University Club in San Francisco (Powell at California) and we are anticipating a big turnout. We are hoping for a repeat performance from the terrific talent that we discovered at our recent banquet before the Shrine game; namely John McCrea, father of Tom '53, and Reg Biggs, father of Mike '54. Both of these gentlemen did an outstanding job of entertaining that night as a substitute when the Dartmouth-Princeton football game movies failed to appear, and we are anxious to see them in action again. In addition, we will have our annual business meeting and election of officers.
Any "foreigners" that happen to be in the Bay Area the 21st will be more than welcome to join us.
