ONE HUNDRED SEVENTEEN alumni and guests dined, sang, and listened to a varied speaking program, and watched movies of activities in Hanover on Tuesday evening February 9, the date of the annual dinner, in the ballroom of the Hotel Carpenter. Dr. Walter A. Bartlett '11, president of the Association was toastmaster.
E. Gordon Bill, dean of the faculty, represented President Hopkins, who was unable to be present. He discussed the recent developments and trends in curriculum policy and described several new social science courses, already introduced or contemplated. Increasing recognition, remarked Dean Bill, should be given the man who at graduation has not acquired high scholastic honors, but who has distinguished himself in human relationships and gives promises of leadership.
Some extremely interesting aspects of the athletic situation were described frankly by William H. McCarter '19, Director. His comprehensive treatment of the problems of schedule-making and subsidization left the clear impression that the affairs of Dartmouth's teams are being competently managed and on a high plane.
"Twenty-Six Years Out of College," Johnathan E. (Jack) Ingersoll '11, wellknown radio sports commentator, reminisced vividly and concluded his remarks with entertaining anecdotes of his broadcasting experiences. Lively musical diversion came from the synchronized pianos of Dick Willis '22 and Lew Ross '23, whose expert playing features this occasion every year
