The Secretary made a call in Somerville, Mass., March 29, on Henry Appleton Kendall, Dartmouth '66. The date of the call marked the 92d anniversary of Kendall's birth. A telegram of congratulation from the College was lying on the table. As Kendall and the Secretary are natives of the same New Hampshire town, Dublin, and were near enough in their college experience to come under the same president, Asa D. Smith (Kendall had the last year of President Lord), and under a number of the same instructors,—Sanborn, Noyes, and Quimby,—there was no lack of themes for interesting consideration. Furthermore, the call was a renewal of an acquaintance of many years' standing. Years ago Kendall contributed articles weekly for two years to the Boston EveningTranscript, bearing the common title of "Points and Moot-Points." These contributions had a wide range; they were clever, humorous, pertinent, suggestive, and brilliant. Portions of them were widely quoted.

Tripp purposes retiring, June 1, as librarian of the New Bedford Free Public Library, a position he has held since 1901. Previously he was a teacher in New Bedford schools for twenty years.

Mrs. Abbie A. Fairfield, widow of Sam M. Fairfield, died at her home in Los Angeles, Calif., April 11.

Secretary, 411 High St., West Medford, Mass.
