Frank P. Hill plans an early trip to England as delegate of the American Library Association, to attend meetings of the British Library Association on the celebration of its fiftieth anniversary.

The following extract is from a book review in the Journal of the American OrientalSociety: "The book (J. E. Abbott's first volume of translations from Marathi) impresses us with the fact that relatively little of the great Maratha literature has yet been made available to the West; and we hope that Dr. Abbott will extend to many numbers the series he has so well started." A second volume of Abbott's translations has just appeared, printed at Poona, India, and bearing the title "Eknath more than double the first volume in its contents and quite as interesting. In the preface Eknath is referred to as "the greatest of the Maratha poet-saints."

Francis P. Thayer will remain another year with the church at Piermont, N. H.

The death of S. C. Gamble removes a man of marked ability in his chosen department of law practice, and personally of unusual charm in family and social relations.
