Late June brought a letter from Miller, saying that the General Motors Acceptance Corporation had transferred his son Leigh back to Providence, so they were ensconced with him at 463 Washington St., South Attleboro, Mass., where the latch string is always out.
Vacation days gave me the opportunity of motoring a bit through northern Vermont and the particular pleasure of dropping in on the Bliss family at Calais. They have a very attractive old house with every modern convenience and a garden that would delight the heart of every lover of flowers. It keeps Bliss busy all day, but it also keeps him fit. Don C. Jr., who is stationed by the Department of Commerce in Paris, France, is now in the U. S. and was expected to arrive, with his wife, in Calais the day after we were there.
At Montpelier I had the opportunity of dropping in on Dote at his office and found him carrying on with courage and devotion.
