ON WEDNESDAY EVENING, Oct. 5, at a meeting at the Vesper Country Club in Lowell, there was formed the Craven Laycock Association of Dartmouth Men of the Merrimack Valley.
The following officers were elected: Pres., Lawrence O'Leary '01; vice pres., Clifton Clark '13, of Haverhill and George Thurber '11, of Nashua; sec. and treas., Arthur F. Woodies '14, of Lowell. It was unanimously the sense of the alumni present that the association should honor Craven Laycock. As it was felt that the love and respect the alumni of the Merrimack valley hold for the dean emeritus should be symbolic of the feeling of the entire Dartmouth family towards him. The fact that Dean Laycock was present at the dinner as guest and speaker, seemed to make this action particularly appropriate.
This new association with a potential membership of between goo and 400, has for its primary aim the drawing together of Dartmouth men in the cities of Nashua, Lowell, Lawrence and Haverhill and in more than a dozen in-between and adjacent towns, extending as far west as Groton, Westford and Pepperell, and in- eluding such large down-river towns as Methuen, Andover, No. Andover and Bradford. The association does not intend to take over any interests or programs now being carried out by individual associations in Nashua, Lowell or Haverhill. Nor does its aim at more than two meetings a year—fall and spring.
Officers, except the sec.-treas., will serve for one year. The presidency will rotate throughout the district covered and meetings will be held up and down the valley.
