Promptly in response to my appeal comes a newsy and interesting letter from "Cap" Warner of Chattanooga, Tenn. Cap grows younger year by year and writes in his usual vigorous and characteristic style, notwithstanding he has passed his eighty-first birthday. He states there are five other classmates now living that have their birthdays in the same year as his, and that Dutton, now living, is apparently the oldest of the class, and so far we have heard nothing to the contrary.
Cap writes' that he is retired from active business, that he is much attached to and devotes a large part of his time to his church (Episcopal); has been delegate to two general conventions and a member of the Billy Sunday Evangelistic Club of Chattanooga for seventeen years. He has also been for fifteen years treasurer of a fund that supports the teaching of the Bible at the city public schools, employing ten teachers, who have nine thousand pupils, a work which is nowhere excelled in the United States.
We, and by this "we" I mean all classmates, are always glad to hear from Cap, for he always has a cheerful outlook on life, and there is no looking backward in any of his letters, notwithstanding the passage of the years.
"Cap" sends his kindest greetings to all classmates.
We are glad to hear also from Dr. N. W. Sanborn of the University of Florida at Gainesville. For fifteen years in that university his duties have been chiefly in an advisory capacity, as chairman of the advisory Committee in the Department of Animal Husbandry in the College of Agriculture, furnishing valuable information to students and farmers throughout the State in connection with agricultural matters.
This does not keep him so busy but that he has ample time to enjoy driving his car around the state, keeping in touch with farmers and agricultural conditions. He reports both himself and Mrs. Sanborn to be in fair health and getting lots of enjoyment out of life. Evidently the Doctor has a very comfortable existence, and he sends best wishes to all classmates.
Classmates William A. May, whose address is Calistoga, Calif., and Ed Moore of Belmont, N. H., have never responded to numerous letters for news. Will appreciate any information whether or not they are alive, and if so, present address.
