James Fairbanks Colby, A.M., LL.D., has received a presentation copy of a volume of essays and addresses prepared in the last thirty years by Henry C. Morrison, a former pupil in the class of 1895, Dartmouth: LL.D. University of Maine 1914, and one time state superintendent of schools in New Hampshire and later in Connecticut, who recently retired as oldest member of the Department of Education at the University of Chicago, entitled "School and Commonwealth", with the following dedication:

"To James Fairbanks ColbyProfessor Emeritus of Law and PoliticalScience in Dartmouth College, in whoseclassroom many years ago I came to seethat a good American is not a product ofracial inheritance but a moral and intellectual achievement."
