Football weekends - there's nothing quite like 'em! The Dartmouth-Harvard affair in Hanover topped them all. Ideal weather and a jam-packed crowd made the Diamond Jubilee a standout - plus, of course, the Dartmouth victory. Those who saw the game will agree it was a lot of football and the suspense right down to the end had us all ticking off those last few seconds with a sigh of relief. It was a treat to some of us who haven't seen a game in Hanover in years to once again experience the close intimacy of the same old grounds at Memorial Field. And as an old footballer who has been exposed to considerable "big-time" football down through the years, I may say — I'm glad I'm an Ivy Leaguer! To '15ers fortunate enough to be in Hanover that weekend there were plenty of doings and gatherings to keep everyone busy. The Jack Bowlers' cocktail party after the game was typical of their open hospitality. There were echoes of several "open house" parties the night before. The Charlie Griffiths entertained at a buffet supper at their new home in Norwich. The Blue Spruce wound up with a big gathering. It taxed your reporter's ingenuity to keep tabs on all '15ers seen or accounted for on this memorable occasion, but here they are (as reported through various and sundry channels): The Jack Masons, the Kike Richardsons, the Russ Rices, the Marty Martins, the Sid Bulls, the Dick Clarkes, the Charlie Griffiths, Thornt Pray, the Chan Fosters, the Doc Davis's, the Doc Noyes's, the Walt Meaders, the Duze Lounsberrys, the Dale Barkers, the Eben Cloughs, the Buster Sawyers and son, the Ned Sheas, the Norvie Milmores, the Don Benninks, the Johnny Mullins, the Phil Murdocks, the Harry Burnets, Male Howland, the Bob Bigelows, Tom Connelly, and Erl MacAndrews.

Seen at the Brown game in Providence were Kike Richardson, Lee Smith, Don Bennink, and Bob Bigelow. Kike and EbenClough also took in the Lafayette game at Hanover.

The Phil Murdocks teamed up with the Win Davis's to take in the Yale game, where we spotted Kike Richardson, the Dick Clarkes,Leo Folan, and Bob Griffin. I think that game was aptly summed up by John Gambling '51 on his radio program - "The gentlemen from Yale were too good for us!"

One further word on football: Regardless of the season's results, I can recommend the edit in Monday's Dartmouth following the Harvard game titled - Dartmouth Undying.

A Dartmouth Night party was held in Camden, S. C., sponsored by Jim Moowry and Stan Llewellyn.

The lunch gang at Pattens in Boston sent a card to Doc O'Hara at Dick's House where he was recuperating from a heart attack and had a note in response saying he was making good progress and expected to be home right soon.

Doc Davis, by personal appointment of the Governor of Vermont, was made a member of the State Board of Examiners recently.

The following telegram was received by the Jack Masons in Hanover from Tulsa on October 22: "We extend our heartiest wishes for a grand get-together and a victorious afternoon to all fifteen men and women in Hanover today" - signed John and Madelon Ferguson. How could we lose after that! The Fergusons, who were scheduled to be in Denver in October and in New Orleans in November, are now the proud possessors of a granddaughter.

Art and Charity Nichols sojourned in Bermuda in October. A card from Nick from a famous resort hotel says: "Let's have that interim 1915 Reunion down huere where the boys can get younger, looking at the bathing beauties and drinking swizzles." (Just what are "swizzles," Nick?)

Headline in the Boston Globe: "Defendant Snickers, Judge Sobers Him with 3 to 5 Years." Superior Court Judge Ed Dewing heard laughter from the prisoners' dock during recent proceedings and handed a safe robber a stiff sentence when he pleaded guilty — to both the robbery and the laughter.

An inviting card from Al Cleveland from Third Conn. Lake in N. H., says: "Grcflt place for a 1915 Reunion."

The Bob Fredericks visited with the ArtNichols the weekend of September 10.

The Johnnie Johnsons buzzed us on their way through the Big Town, but we had important business in Hanover that weekend.

Herb Potter advises that his daughter Julie graduated from Texas Western College of El Paso in August and is now working towards her Master's degree there. Considerable excitement was caused when the graduation speaker, Judge Roy Jackson of El Paso, dropped dead in the middle of his speech from a heart attack.

Pete Cannon is reported to have retired as of August 1 to a place he has acquired in Madison, Conn., although still retaining his New York apartment.

Hal Smith of Detroit comes up with this one: "If you have to borrow money, borrow from a pessimist. He doesn't expect to get it back!"

A goodly bunch of 'lgers gathered at the Dartmouth Club in New York on November 2. The occasion was one of our informal dinners scheduled whenever the spirit moves — two or three times a year. There are some sixty-odd classmates in the greater New York area, and we try to reach them all through mailing facilities maintained by the Dartmouth Club. There's nothing better than these reuning fests to "renew that spirit within us." It "knits up the raveled sleeve of care." Those who came to partake of the "Knitting" were: Gus Braun, Charlie Comiskey, Win Davis, Leo Folan, Bob Fredericks, Bob Frothingham, Carl Gish, Bob Griffin, John Healy, Opie Horton, Walt Kennedy, Roy Lafferty, Don Law, Russ Livermore, Phil Murdock, Art Nichols, Kell Rose, Sammy Sanborn, Dutch Scharmann. Jack Ferguson sent greetings and best wishes from Tulsa. The Class had previously extended its congratulations to President Dickey and the Class of 1929 on the occasion of their Anniversary Dinner held at the club on the preceding Friday night, at which there was a large turnout.

The pot is simmering towards a 1915 interim Reunion along about 1958!
