As THIS ISSUE comes off the press, the one thought in the mind of each and every alumnus in Connecticut should be directed toward attendance at the State Alumni meeting on May 19th. This year the State organization headed by Dave Gibson '16, and Secretary Jack Conners '14 has been working overtime to make this the largest and finest assemblage ever. It will be held at the Waterbury Country Club. Golf will predominate in the afternoon for those who desire to expose themselves to it, followed by dinner in the evening. "Prexy" feels that while he would welcome the opportunity to be with and address this gathering again, this year he cannot possibly do so, due to more pressing obligations at that time.
The principal speaker is Dean "Pudge" Neidlinger. This is his first visit to Connecticut Alumni circles and it will give everyone a chance to know the Dean who is doing such a big job for Dartmouth. He is known to all of us by reputation, now we can meet him personally. Also comingis Sid Hayward. Perhaps the strongest inducement to attendance will be the presence of our esteemed football coach Earl Blaik. He does not come as a speaker, but will lend his presence in order to meet Connecticut Alumni and to talk to us man to man. Just to make this a four star feature, Blaik has promised to bring with him an outstanding member of the football squad.
One word further, for five years one man in Connecticut has endeavored unceasingly and without recompense, except for the joy which comes with laboring for any and all things Dartmouth, to impart a measure of his spirit and zeal to and to expand the influence of Connecticut Dartmouth Alumni. To weld them into a powerful force 1000 strong for Dartmouth has been his ambition. I am referring to Jack Conners '14. This year he completes five years as State Secretary. His interests and efforts for Connecticut Alumni will henceforth be devoted to other Dartmouth objects. I expect every man who can possibly be there to lend his presence to this occasion. The price, including an assessment for State expenses will not exceed $2.00 per person.
A meeting was held at Stamford on April ist. A fine program had been planned which included talks by Bob Gibson '39 and Ed Miller '40 undergraduates, and a review of the year's activities by Hal Rider '25 and Jack Keating '31.
Bridgeport met on April 6th with Charlie Widmayer '30, Director of the Dartmouth News Service, as the guest attraction. Charlie gave us one of the best talks Bridgeport has ever had on the current situation at Dartmouth from the undergraduate, faculty, administrative, athletic, scholastic and alumni angles, a large order.
