HUBERT E. SARGENT '15, of Montpelier, Vermont's commissioner of highways and chief engineer of the highway department, was elected president of the Association of Highkway Officials of the North Atlantic States at the annual meeting of that organization in Atlantic City, N.J sargent waspromoted from vice president, in which capacity he read a paper on road nio;domg nefpre tje asspcoation The organization which he heads cover the New England states ,NewYORK, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania' Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is vice president of the Vermont alumni of Dartmouth.

Two Dartmouth men who have long been prominent in the National Life Insurance Company at Montpelier have retired from active duty. George B. Young 'go, general counsel since 1916 and vice president and member of the executive committee, leaves his post at the age of 73 years. He will continue to act in an advisory capacity. He was born in Troy, Vt., and formerly served as vice president and member of the executive committee of the American Bar Association. Clarence E. Moulton '89 retires from the post of treasurer after 47 years with the National Life as treasurer and actuary. He was born in Randolph, Vt., 77 years ago.

Fred A. Howland '87, chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Life, a former trustee of Dartmouth, continues as chairman of the board. His retirement as president of the insurance company has meant no retirement in work and he continues to put in an active day at his office.

Burlington voters think so much of Willsie Brisbin '29, that no candidate was put up against him in his campaign for reelection as alderman. He is president of the board. Willsie is slated to become secretary of the Vermont Senate when the Vermont legislature convenes in January, 1941. He apparently likes these secretarial jobs for he is secretary of the Burlington Dartmouth Club and secretary of the Northern Baseball league.

George R. McKee '33, of Montpelier, is acting state's attorney of Washington county and will probably continue to do the prosecuting in the county for several months as the state's attorney is seriously ill.
