A recent issue of the Manchester Union carried a picture of "Bung' Jones soliciting signatures for a special session of the legislaure to consider means for meeting the deficit in the state finances. Bung is a representative from his district.
Ned French, waiting in the rain for a "delayed" Boston & Maine train, was one of the sights seen on the platform in Bellows Falls, the last of May.
Henry Thrall dropped in at the Club on his way to Italy and Switzerland the last of May, and he almost missed the boat as he met up with his old track running mate, JoeNuelle. Henry seemed to be in excellent health when he left, but suffered a stroke before he landed, and was in a hospital in Italy several weeks before returning. The latest news from Corrinne is that Henry is improving slowly but steadily.
igo6 had a 100% attendance of its officers at the annual meeting in Hanover, May 14 and 15. At dinner Friday night, Norm, Bob and I had the pleasure of the company of Nat Leverone and Bill Page. Nat was in Hanover to lecture at the Tuck School and Bill Page was visiting the college with his son John.
Herb Rainie was married to Miss Florence Fulford of Concord on May 10.
Jesse Gage, head of the mathematics department of Blair Academy, and a member of the faculty for 37 years, retired on June 30 and has returned to West Medford, Mass. to live. Jesse was football coach at Blair from 1912 to 1919 and was Academy Librarian for twenty-four years. In addition to teaching mathematics he also taught German.
Robin Hartman, son of Margaret and Max, was married to Miss Beatrice Wakefield of Scarsdale, New York on July 24th.
Dan Hatch was recently elected chairman of the National Committee of the Canadian Commercial Travellers.
Clyde Souter was in New York the first of July, but I was away and missed the pleasure of seeing him. Better luck next time, Clyde.
By now, I presume everyone knows that Halsey is retiring from office on June 30th 1949, after 43 years of service. This will end a 33 year period as Dartmouth's Treasurer, during which the annual operating budget has increased from $400,000 to more than 53,000,000 and the colleges' total assets have grown from $6,000,000 to $35,000,000.
Norm Russell has returned to his native heath and is living at 9 Pond St., Newburyport, Mass.
Mr. and Mrs. Earle St. Clair were at the Hanover Inn during August. Earle has moved his office to Room 104 a, 141 Milk St., Boston.
Charlie Crane gave the principal address at the Calvin Coolidge Memorial Pilgrimage held in Plymouth, Vermont, Aug. 29.

Joe Nuelle and I had the pleasure of eating breakfast with Dave Main, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. While Dave came East on business, he managed to spend many days with his three grandchildren.
