Your Secretary journeyed to Hanover recently to make preparations for the coming 1896 Reunion in June. While turning the corner of the campus, near the Administration Building, we came face to face with Louis Cox and his daughter. Louis was in Hanover giving a talk before one of James P. Richardson's classes. We had lunch together and a pleasant chat, after which Louis immediately departed for his home.

Arrangements have been made to have the Class have dinner together each day in a private room at Thayer Hall, also an Outing will be held at a place of scenic beauty about a half an hour's drive from Hanover.

An Evanston, Illinois, paper published the following note concerning Ike Cox who retires this year from the History Department of Northwestern University.

"Dr. Isaac Joslin Cox, chairman of the department of history at Northwestern University, will retire at the close of the academic year. Dr. Cox, a leading authority on Hispanic-American history, has been a professor in the history department of Northwestern University for 22 years and chairman of the department since 1928. Born at West Creek, N. J., in 1873, Cox received his B.A. degree from Dartmouth College in 1896 and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1904.

"He was a member of a special United States research foundation to study educational conditions in Mexico in 1918 and has made studies in Mexico, Spain, Washington, D. C., Argentina, Brazil, Chile, the West Indies, and Europe.

"He plans, to devote his time to research and writing following his retirement."

The New York Times of April 15 announced the death of Alfred M. Hitchcock who graduated at Williams in 1890 and came to Dartmouth to take his master's degree in English, receiving the same in 1896. He was a teacher at Hartford, Conn., High School for 27 years during which time he wrote many English composition text books. Your Secretary does not remember him, but knows he has been a regular contributor to the Alumni Fund for many years.
