Limitations of space prevented the inclusion of a lot of summer items in last month's notes. Most notable of these omissions was the account of what amounted almost to a '23 reunion over the week-end of June al, the occasion being the gathering in Hanover of the Secretaries, Treasurers and Class Agents for the first of what will now be annual series of joint and divisional meetings of these groups. The meetings themselves were extremely interesting and inspiring and it was only natural that 10 stalwart '23ers were included in these groups of Dartmouth workers—Class Agents Sherm Clough, Frank Doten, Irish Flanigan, and Johnny Moore,—Treasurer Bob McMillan (elected to the executive committee of the Dartmouth Treasurers Ass'n) Pudge Neidlinger (who gave a fine report on undergraduate developments of the year with special emphasis on their status as regards military training)—and Secretaries Nat Harmon of the Albany Club, Sammy Sammis of the Berkshire County Ass'n, George Weston of the Springfield Club, and Class Secretary Sherm Baldwin. We certainly had a grand time and, being the week-end of the first class reunions to be held on the week-end following Commencement plan, we were all able to do a little scouting for our 20th which undoubtedly will be held on the same plan in 1943. We all agreed that the idea is 100% to which has already been added the official and enthusiastic approval of the 4 classes who reuned this June.

Your scribe and Mrs. were in Hanover for Commencement and stayed through the following week for Hanover Holiday, Frank Doten was on deck also and we can't recommend that week too highly for those of you who love Hanover, enjoy congenial company, like to loaf, and don't mind improving your minds, all for the price of one—a real bargain! ! ! Ced Swett was on hand for the Commencement week-end also Frank, Mrs. O'Gara, and their two Georgia crackers (son and daughter) were around most of the week but we unfortunately saw all too little of them as it was Frank's first visit since graduation and the first of all time for his family so they were some busy trying to cover all the ground they wanted to in such a short time

Chick and Peg Bundy and their son and daughter came over from Schenectady to see the reunion festivities.

The '23 Summer meeting was fully covered in last month's notes but the very thoughtful letters of regrets which so many of you sent are newsworthy in their own right Bill Whipple over-nighted in Hanover on his way to Maine for a vacation and on the return trip stopped over for a week-end with Stuie Knight and Frank Mackedon on the Cape Dr. Stan Ungar came up a few days early for a well deserved rest from his obstetrical practice but as luck would have it was called back to N. Y. on an emergency case on Friday .... the three Duffy youngsters were all at camp and of course, we had to pick the week-end of Parents Day to hold our meeting so Ralph and Emily had to pass us up ....big family birthday parties for Pete Jones wife Peggy and Sherm Clough's older son precluded their being on hand Bob McMillan sent along a schedule of sales meetings for which he was booked which would put a Barnum and Bailey's itinerary to shame—since which incidentally Bob has been through the West and out to the Coast Bill Corrigan hoped to get down but at the same time hoped his Jobs Pond Camps would be so busy as to prevent him—the case fortunately for him but unfortunately for us. . . .and Brooks Palmer found himself all tied up with sales meetings too.

If you're looking for rejuvenation of spirit, the fountain of youth, or what have you and will take the advice of Frank Doten or Johnny Moore you'll find the answer right in Hanover. During Hanover Holiday the Daily Dartmouth listed F. F. Doten '35 and the bulletin board at the Inn over our August meeting announced John E. Moore '42. Johnny lived the part apparently because he got away with it all week-end but Frank in a misguided moment signed up for the golf tournament and the day following the posting of his score woke up 12 years older and back in 23

A grand letter from Nick Andretta from way off in Tyler, Tex., all the more enjoyable because he has been out of print for some time. For the past eight years Nick has been the land man for the Delta Drilling Co., oil operators of Tyler. From his description I judge a land man is the guy who chases around the country (and I mean practically the whole country in Nick's case) and spots likely locations for oil wells and makes the preliminary tests prior to the start of actual drilling operations. Almost continual traveling has been the cause of Nick's being out of touch with us and except for a very occasional round of golf or a few days of fishing accounts for Nick being unusually free of time-wasters. Mrs. Nick was the former Angela Gorman and their son Tony is now 14.

Our HAT'S OFF award for this month goes to Ralph Duffy who, on his maiden excursion into the field of politics, ran for one of the seats from his ward in the Worcester City Council. After a typically energetic campaign on a "I have nothing to gain personally, and nothing to lose" Duff in the primaries yesterday won the nomination hands down, topping by 700 votes his nearest rival candidate, and in the sweep cast into the discard two of the three candidates seeking renomination. Congratulations, Duff, and best of luck in the election next month.

The Norwich game found a few '29ers in Hanover—Ted Helwig, wife, motherland two daughters up from N. Y. for a few days. Babe and Florence Miner over from Portsmouth where Babe is now, in charge of the Naval Hospital George and Julie Musk on an up-and-back trip from Lawrence,— Fred Bailey and Dr. Haub Haubrich to whom the engagement of Miss Joan Russell of Brookline, Mass. was announced during the Summer. Haub reports the wedding will be held this Fall.
