College opened September 22nd. The President's address deplored the declining spirit of individuality in the student body and declared that no stereotype was sought by Dartmouth. Students were urged to escape mediocrity and attention was called to the fact that almost half of each entering class failed to finish the college course through lack of ambition to do more than "get by."....The Steele Chemistry Laboratories were dedicated, Rollins, Culver and College halls had been remodeled, the latter to provide a new cafeteria and grill room for upperclass dining. Here planked steak and chicken became popular specialties Jim Haggerty of Coffee Room fame retired and left Hanover Green Key began to function at the Norwich game The football team under Cannell won early games but fell disastrously before Ramsey, Kaw, and Pfann at Ithaca 59-7 for the worst beating in Dartmouth football history. Syracuse beat us and Penn tied but the finish at Georgia was an unexpected victory by means of a spectacular Robertson to Lynch pass.
