ALTHOUGH SUMMER ACTIVITIES of the association were rather quiet, being limited to a June picnic, committees are actively working on a full program for the fall and winter seasons. With plans indefinite at the present, Sawyer Kier '29, president, tells us the Dartmouth Night celebration on November 6 will be strictly stag this year. This is no reflection on our lady-attended parties in the past, but more in keeping with the thought and meaning of Dartmouth Night.
"Ace" Miller '34, and Charles Brown '99, are concluding their arrangements for the annual scholarship benefit. This same affair this year will be in the nature of a "Night at the Nugget." Popular films of yester year; including the earlier Dartmouth College movies, are on the program. With the continued fine support of local alumni, we are confident the meeting will not only be a pleasant and happy evening among Dartmouth friends, but will also provide the basis for our fourth sizeable contribution to the Scholarship Fund. The date is November 22, at the University Club, Pittsburgh.
The Western Pennsylvania alumni, many of them Peeraders for at least one week-end to see a Dartmouth game, continue to bemoan the fact that this year again the nearest contest is Princeton, 300 miles away. Maybe some day Dartmouth will schedule one of the nearby better-than-average elevens. We would like to have the opportunity of welcoming the Big Green and guests in this vicinity.
We have not as yet become acquainted with all the new men, but we are glad to welcome Howard A. Heimbach '30, John B. McBriarity '30, A. R. Beisel Jr. '31, Willis L. Bennett '37, and George B. Boswell '37, to our membership. Among the recent departures was Jim DeHaven '33, who is now associated with Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, Ohio, as research engineer.
