Reynolds arrived in Boston Wednesday before election, but was summoned back to New York for a political pow wow. He had to take a plane and fly thither, so we missed seeing him. He has recently been elected President of the American Colonization Society. This organization is over 100 years old and Henry Clay was its first President. It is the custodian of a large fund, the income of which is devoted to educational matters in Liberia. It originally started out as a society to send the colored brothers to that part of Africa, and this work continued for some time. At present, however, there is no great desire on the part of negroes to go there, so the money is used to construct schools and help along the cause of educating the Liberians, both as to scholastic effort and manual work. In the old days many people left funds to the Society, and it is one of the few institutions which seem to be genuinely solvent Since his election as Secretary, the writer has planned to retire as Class Agent, and with the advice and consent of the Alumni Fund authorities, Reynolds was drafted for the job. There are some pleasant features to this office and for several reasons we have enjoyed the work. We bespeak for Jimmie the same prompt and loyal responses the members and friends of '90 have given the retiring Class Agent.

Secretary, 34 Gray St., Arlington, Mass.
