As THESE WORDS are written, adjourn. ment of the Chicago Association's annual meeting and banquet is a matter of only a few hours. A large and enthusiastic group of alumni filled the ballroom of the Blackstone Hotel on the evening of March 7 to greet Prof. Harold J. Tobin '17, representing the College, and Tuss Mo Laughry, our new football coach. Both gentlemen distinguished themselves in their remarks as did Gene Hotchkiss '22, the Association's retiring president.
Professor Tobin gave us a most interesting and illuminating description of the effect that the present national crisis is having on undergraduate life in Hanover. "Tuss" quickly won the admiration and respect of all present and he has definitely convinced us that win, lose, or draw, Dartmouth's football destinies are in capable hands.
Strangely enough the recommendations of the nominating committee for officers of the Association were accepted without objection although I have no recollection that anyone was given an opportunity to cast a negative vote on the proposed candidates. The following will hold office until the next annual meeting: president, Bill Juergens '23; vice-president, Tom Beers '34; treasurer, Hunter Hicks '33; and the undersigned as secretary. Fred Hamm '2O and Merrill Davis '3B were elected to the executive committee for a three-year term.
The energies of the Association are now being directed to the evening of Saturday, April 19, when the annual Spring Party will be held at the Stevens Hotel. This is the most important social function sponsored by the Chicago alumni and net proceeds go to the Association's Scholarship Fund. John Wright '32 of the entertainment committee reports that as of this date, which is well over a month in advance of the party, 205 reservations are in. This should be sufficient indication that those in charge of the affair are out to break all records. They deserve your support, so plan to attend!
